# Terms of use

Plain-language terms for a one-person software product. Nothing here is legal advice.

## What you are buying

PuzzleBindery is software licensed to you, not sold. The Pro licence is a one-time purchase covering use of the application and the right to sell what you produce with it. There is no subscription and no per-book royalty. Full detail of what the licence permits is on the [commercial use page](https://puzzlebindery.com/commercial-use-license), which forms part of these terms.

## What you make is yours

Puzzles, interiors and covers you generate are yours to publish and sell under the Pro licence. No ownership of your output is claimed. The free version is for personal, classroom and evaluation use; exports carry a watermark or a credit until a licence is activated, and removing those without a licence is not permitted.

## What the software promises

It is provided as-is. It is tested — sudoku solutions are verified unique, mazes verified solvable, and print dimensions computed from Amazon's published specifications — but no software is free of defects, and the responsibility for checking a file before publishing it is yours.

In particular: Amazon decides what Amazon accepts. The exporter applies KDP's published requirements for margins, bleed, spine width and page limits, and those requirements can change without notice. A file produced here is not guaranteed to be accepted, and liability is limited to what you paid.

## Acceptable use

-   Do not redistribute, resell or sublicense the software itself. Selling the books you make with it is exactly what it is for; selling the tool is not.
-   Do not share or publish licence keys.
-   Do not use the site's endpoints in a way designed to degrade them for other people. The AI theme endpoint is rate-limited for that reason.

## Refunds

Purchases are handled by Polar and their refund process applies. The free version exists so that the software can be evaluated fully before purchase: every generator, the whole editor and the cover designer work without paying, and only the clean export is gated. If something is genuinely broken for you, email me before asking for a refund — it is usually faster.

## Changes

These terms may change as the product does. The date below is when they were last reviewed. Changes are not applied retroactively to a licence already bought.
